Jishnu pitches for more exposure to Tripura's bamboo crafts

The International Craft Exchange programme between India and Bhutan on bamboo crafts which began on 19th November this year here at Agartala has come to an end on Friday. The Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma has attended the exchange programme and took a note of the activities of bamboo craft making in Bamboo and Cane Development Institute.

While addressing the gathering artisans of Bhutan and India who took part in the exchange programme today, the Deputy Chief Minister mainly laid emphasis on more promotion of marketing of the bamboo crafts from Tripura. He said Handicraft products are not only meant for business but also a cultural heritage of any state.   

The Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais on November 19 has inaugurated the exchange programme has come up under the North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme focusing mainly to provide a thrust to exports of Indian handicrafts and an opportunity to the craft persons and entrepreneurs to interact with the national and international visitors.
