Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind rally at Sonamura

AGARTALA:

Hundreds of the members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind today took to the streets against the eviction of religious structures followed by a deputation to the SDM Sonamura. The main demand of the religious outfit was to prevent any attack on the mosques, temples, churches or any other religious institution of being demolished.

It is also learnt to have asked that SDM tried to persuade the leaders of Jamiat saying, any further decision on eviction or demolition of religious structures will be taken after a detailed discussion with the spiritual leaders.          

Notably, as much as 184 religious structures are there engrossed in government land. And 61 of those were built within last 30 years. Among the total of 61 included, 29 mosques, 29 temples and 3 churches. 13 of those were displaced. The administration has issued notices to 48 religious structures to be demolished after the survey.
