In wake of the forthcoming ADC polls in Tripura, the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) an ally to the BJP government in Tripura wants free hand in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). "We want free hand in ADC as large section of indigenous people of the state is residing in ADC," adding to this the BJP's alliance minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia today said, "We want to contest maximum seats in ADC this time."
He said, "We met the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Chairman Himanta Biswa Sharma in Guwahati in presence of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Sunil Deodarh and others on this and demanded for IPFT's free hand in ADC."
He said, "We have not yet got any formal approval in this but verbally they have assured us of looking in to it."
Meantime, Mr. Jamatia this evening said, "The IPFT delegation has also met with the BJP National Working President J P Nadda in Delhi and sought the final report of High Level Modility Committee."
He said, "We have waited for this report as the HLMC report was supposed to be published within three months of the general assembly elections in Tripura aiming to upgrade the socio economic and linguistic culture of indigenous people of the state."
Mr. Jamatia however on being asked agreed to the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah today and said, "The IPFT morally supports National Register of Citizenship (NRC) countrywide."
