An ally to the BJP led coalition government in Tripura, the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) which has been seeking centre's intervention in tabling the report of High level Modality Committee today decided to observe its 11th state level 'Twipra Land' day on August 23 after refusing the appointment from the Prime Minister Office (PMO).
"We got a call from the PMO office yesterday which has fixed an appointment for us on August 22 to discuss the high level modality committee at Delhi. But we refused the appointment to observe our state level 'Twipra Land' day on August 23," said IPFT Spokes Person Mangal Debbarma today.
He said, "We demand the centre for re-appointment of Prime Minister." Addressing a press conference here at Agartala Press Club this evening Mr. Debbarma said, "The Twipra Land day shall be observed at ADC Khumlwng headquarter, where our party supporters from all the regional committees and others shall join in large number so as to strengthen our demand for separate state for the tribals."
Asked about the forthcoming TTAADC election, Mr. Debbarma clarified, "If our alliance partner BJP do not agree to sit with us, the IPFT shall alone contest this forthcoming TTAADC election." He said, "As of now no decision has been taken in regard of contesting this election."
