IPFT alleges violence on non-BJP parties

AGARTALA:

IPFT spokesperson Mangal Debbarma has on today alleged that a section of Bharatiya Janata Party supporters had initiated a series of violent attacks on IPFT and all the others non-BJP parties after the process of Lok Sabha elections came to an end.

Speaking to the media persons at Agartala Press Club, Debbarma said, since the results of Lok Sabha elections were declared over enthusiastic BJP supporters launched large scale-violence in most of the tribal dominated areas. Near about 15 to 16 IPFT leaders were attacked at different parts of the state during the episode of violence. Moreover, IPFT supporters are being labeled with false cases in order to resist IPFT’s organizational base, he alleged.

While asked of the reasons, he said, the Bharatiya Janata Party used IPFT for its political gain. Before the assembly elections the BJP needed us, but now they need no one’s support as they crossed the majority themselves. With every passing elections—Panchayat by-elections and Lok Sabha elections, the intentions of BJP came to the forefront, he added.

Replying to a question regarding the Panchayat elections, he said, it will be decided after a two sided meeting scheduled to take place shortly.
