I am not linked to politics: Pradyot

AGARTALA:

TIPRA Chief and former president of Tripura Congress Pradyot Kishore Debbarman said that his TIPRA movement was not linked to politics but it had been focusing to uplift the indigenous community people what term as “Dafa”.

The TIPRA—Tripura Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance is working for the betterment of the indigenous community people. “Our movement is for the socio-economic development of our community. I will fight until the problems related to social, cultural, jobs and land rights get resolved permanently” Pradyot said in a Facebook live.

Justifying his willingness to not getting involved in politics again, he said, “I would have never left Congress or else joined BJP in pursuit of some good position in the party had I wanted power. But, my fight is for different reasons”.

And, there are people, he felt, who are trying to connect his apolitical image to some political party just to tarnish his image before the people.

“Today we need leaders who set aside politics and work for the community. The leaders who will be elected have to hear his people. We also need leaders who speak for our interest in the BJP rather than figuring out sums to get inducted in the alliance. People of India should understand that there are being used as vote bank because they are giving their leaders the opportunity to do so”, Pradyot charged.

Reacting to his social media trolls, he said, there are many people who are trying to divide this movement. “I would like to request my people not to get involved in any altercation because it will further trigger a ripple effect,” said he.

“Now, people in Delhi listen to me carefully, because I do not belong to any political organization. I do not go there to deal in seats. People with independent background should come forward to tackle the situation” he added.

He also convened a meeting of artists, activists, political parties and civil societies to discuss the future course of CAA protests being spearheaded by all the indigenous organizations of the state.
