A housewife identified as Purnima Gope (Sarkar) was hanged to death today at Bhati Abhaynagar of Agartala.
She was later taken to the GBP hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Speaking to this correspondent, father of the deceased Nayan Gope alleged that she was subjected to torture by her in-laws and several occasion he himself had to take intervene to resolve the problem.
However, sources in the police department said, husband of the deceased Sanjit Sarakar, a resident of Durga Chowmuhani was arrested after the deceased’s father lodged and FIR with the police station.
