Guv congratulates Tripura voters on national voters’ day

AGARTALA:

Governor Ramesh Bais has on today congratulated voters of Tripura for maintaining a tremendous voting track record in previous elections. 

“I am very fortunate to be a part of the state which has maintained the highest voting trends in previous elections. In previously held Assembly and Lok Sabha polls respectively, Tripura voted 91.61 percent and 82.21 percent which show as to how the people of the state are aware of exercising their franchise” Bais told in the state level observance of national voter day held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan. 

Elaborating on the significance of the day, he said, elections are celebration of democracy, the election commission of India has successfully conducted elections across the country in different occasions, it tells about the strengthen democratic roots of the country. 

“Voters are being observed to engage youth and people from cross section of this democracy more and more in the elections. And, the Indian constitution offers that liberty to each and every citizen of this republic to elect their leader” The Governor said. 

Meanwhile, a number of higher officials including Chief Electoral Officer Tripura Sriram Taranikanti also remained present on the occasion.
