Farmers’ suicide rose in BJP regime: Manik

AGARTALA:

Coming down heavily on the state and central ruling BJP government, leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar today vented anger on the policies of BJP government and termed the government “anti-people”. “During this regime the number of farmer’s suicide recorded a huge rise, in numbers it is almost 40-42% more than the UPA government. The unemployment ration also recorded all time low under the rule of BJP” he claimed.

Speaking at an election rally at Dharmanagar, he also took a dig at the pre-poll promises made by the BJP—2 crore jobs every year and Rs. 15 lakh to deposit to the bank accounts of poor. By dint of all these promises the party assumed power but the condition of poor came downward as it was during the UPA, he said.

Statistics shows, he added, during the UPA regime altogether 25 to 30 crore people of the country were out of the employment net. The BJP claimed to generate employment possibilities for 2 crore jobs every year and in Tripura they allured the people with the promise of jobs to every household. But at the end of the day it was observed that near about 5 crore people throughout country lost their jobs, he pointed out.

He also lashed out at the government for surge in the farmer’s suicides. “All throughout the state, farmers took to the streets against the anti-farmer policies of the government and Left was the medium to convey their agitation as an alternative platform” he claimed. He also stressed as to how Left movement is gradually gaining momentum all over the country.

The former Chief Minister also expressed his concern over the rising inflation rate, hike in the prices of daily commodities and rise in the transpiration costs. However, Manik Sarkar has on Monday addressed two poll rallies at the North Tripura District. The first rally was addressed at Kadamtala and the other one was at Dharmangar.
