Despite lockdown people are entering Tripura, breach of border reported

Despite lockdown and strict restrictions, people are entering Tripura through Assam borders and by illegal routes violating the borders, Health Secretary Debasish Basu who also happens to be the Covid-19 spokesperson told media on Monday. 

Addressing a Press Conference here in the civil secretariat, he said, “There is no way to deny the fact that people are entering Tripura despite restrictions in all the borders but the what seems to be a matter of relief is that no one has been tested positive yet in the state”.

Replying to a query as to why the numbers of quarantined patients are increasing day by day, Basu said, “In our state control room reports are pouring in claiming movement of people across Tripura-Assam and Tripura-Bangladesh borders. The movement is, of course, unlawful by natures but, the way local masses are showing co-operation, it had enabled us to mark each and every person entering the state. Wherever reports of hone coming have been reported entire family has been home quarantined”, Basu added. 

Charting the present statistics of the people lodged in quarantine, he said, as of now the cumulative figure of quarantined people now stands at 7,614. Among them, 976 have already completed the 14 days period. 69 people have been lodged in institutional isolation. And, altogether 96 people samples are tested as of now with no positive reports yet, Basu added.

Taking over from him, Subhasish Das, Joint coordinator of the state control room, has said, so far the control room received 361 calls and resolved queries of 254 people. “The people who are stranded on different parts of the country are being addressed regularly. In some cases as per the standard protocols feedback calls have been given in response to the queries”, he told media. 

Speaking on the food availability and rationing, Dr. Basu said, already 38 percent of people have lifted their rations from various fair price shops who fall under the priority group categories. The civic bodies have identified 1,500 people belong daily laborer category who would be given take way rations for seven days free of cost in spite of cooked food. 

He also assured that adequate stock of food was available in and there was no reason to worry about it.
