The opposition CPI-M party on Monday met the Director General of Police in Police Headquarters here at Agartala and demanded for full proof protection for the party and rest of the oppositions in the state ensuring re-establishment of law and order situation across the state.
A delegation of the party lead by the Left Front convener Bijan Dhar and GMP leader also the former MP Jitendra Chowdhury has tabled a deputation with the DGP and alleged of repeated attacks on the CPI-M North District committee office.
“Attack on our North district committee office is the fifth in a row during the last 23 months of the BJP-IPFT rule in Tripura when the last attack took place on February 23, Sunday,” adding to this Mr. Dhar said, “The attack has left 5 of our leaders injured seriously and the office is totally vandalised.”
He alleged, “Series of incidents have been taking place only due to lapses of the law and order authority in the district.”
“We demanded the DGP to intervene into the matter and ensure that the rule of law is re-established in the District,” adding to this Mr. Dhar said, “We demanded that the police should take immediate action on all FIRs as lodged and booked against the accused.”
