Just after the Additional district court has rejected the interim bail petition of the former minister Badal Chowdhury over Rs. 600 crore alleged PWD scam in Tripura, the opposition Communist Party of India and Marxist (CPI-M) today accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its government in the state and alleged, “The BJP has even influenced the court judgement yesterday.”
This has come up today while the CPI-M state secretary Goutam Das was addressing a press conference here at Agartala Melarmath party headquarter.
“How come the BJP has held a press conference prior the court judgement and announce that Badal Chowdhury’s bail petition will be rejected and shall be arrested soon?,” adding to this Mr. Das said, “This probes the BJP has even influenced the court judgement as it has reject the interim bail of Chowdhury.”
He said, “The FIR against Badal Chowdhury is baseless and the BJP has simply used the police administration to discover a political vendetta on this.” Mr. Das continued targeting the BJP part and its government and said, “The entire episode was carried out against the CPI-M party and Badal Chowdhury under the direction of Chief minister Biplab Kuar Deb.”
“The BJP and its government do not have minimum respect on law. The Police have acted unlawful so far as conducted series of raid at a recognised party office without search warrant in the name of arresting Badal Chowdhury,” said Mr. Das today. Shocked with the DGP’s raid at the MLA hostel on Wednesday last, Mr. Das said, “How could the DGP like officers conduct a raid at protected area and that too in MLA hostels where the people representatives reside?.”
Mr. Das also condemned the arrest of senior party leader also the former CPI-M MP Narayan Kar and said, “The police yesterday forcibly made a Personal Guard of Badal Chowdhury lodge an FIR against one of our senior party leader Narayan Kar who is arrested later on Wednesday night.”
He however said, “We are now preparing to move to the High Court to challenge the verdict of the lower court.”
Former PWD minister and CPI-M's Central Committee member Badal Chowdhury and also the Deputy opposition leader Badal Chowdhury, facing an arrest warrant for his alleged role in a scam worth Rs. 600 crore in execution of PWD works, was on Wednesday denied anticipatory bail by a court.
