Court grants Badal's police remand with specific raiders

AGARTALA:

After a long judicial tussle and argument counter argument, special Court district session Judge S Datta Purakayastha today sent Former PWD Minister of Tripura Badal Chowdhury for 4 day police remand with some specific raiders.

Pleased by the arguments and evidences placed by the prosecution the Court which has earlier reserved it's order on November 08 last awarded Chowdhury police remand of 4 days.

However, taking note of his health conditions, the Court also ordered that he could not be interrogated in lock-up. The process of interrogation should be completed in a free room equipped all the facilities, the Court ruled. The next hearing on the matter has been fixed on November 22 next.

Speaking to this newsman, special PP Ratan Datta said, "The Court is pleased by the arguments forwarded by the prosecution. Earlier the judgement has been reserved and today it was passed. The Court has granted police remand of four days for him. And we are satisfied that interrogation will start. The state police will cooperate with him in possible manner. We hope he will also cooperate with the police."
