The Northeastern states of Tripura has sounded high alert against the spread of novel corona virus across the state and especially along the Indo-Bangladesh international border and railway stations. A desk for screening people with symptoms of the virus has been set up by the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
Moving in line with the advisory from the union ministry, the state health department across the state is reported to be maintaining a close watch on the disease and also taking necessary steps to screen people coming inside Indian Territory from adjoining Bangladesh through the land customs stations (LCS) and Akhaura international check post (ICP).
A community health officer Bulti Datta deployed at Agartala-Akhaura check post said, "The checking is mainly going for corona virus outbreak which is mainly started from China and now its spreading in various adjoining countries like India and others."
"We are here mainly to stop the entry of this viral infection into the Indian territory of Tripura," adding to this Datta said, "We are mainly screening based on three symptoms like one having cough, breathing difficulty and fever. So if any individual from other part is found with these symptoms, they will be stopped and a thorough medical checkup shall be initiated and shall be kept in observation fort at least 30 days."
Meantime, certain measures have been taken at the airport in Agartala to combat the corona virus. A desk for screening people with symptoms of the virus has been set up by the AAI. A doctor deployed in airport desk Nilanjan Debbarma said, "We are here upto 12th of February as per the order to administer a thorough medical check up to the passengers arriving here at Agartala airport if any one of them are detected with viral symptoms."
In view of this corona virus which is said to be pushed from China, section of passengers from different parts of the country arriving here at Agartala Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport suggests, "The government of India should immediately ban all China products to restrict further spread of any such dangerous viruses affecting people of this nation."
