The resented consumers of Garji Post Office locked the Post Office on December 24 and R.K. Pur Post Office today in protest of misappropriation of their deposited amount about Rs. 2 crore by in-charge of the Post Office.
As a result the Head Post Office was locked from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today. However MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh rushed to the spot and listened the complain of consumers. After his intervention the agitators opened the post office. Later they filed a case at R.K. Pur Police Station against the in-charge of Garji Post Office Kartik Roy. Meanwhile police arrested Roy from Garji today.
Sources said that common people of Dataram and Garji were depositing their earned amount at Garji Post Office since 2014. Kartik Roy was in-charge of the post office from very beginning. But Roy started dillydallying when the consumers went to withdraw their amount under different schemes during last few days.
At last under pressure of the consumers he suggested them to go R.K. Pur Post Office. Accordingly they consulted with the authority of R.K. Pur Head Post Office. They came to know that no amount deposited in the HPO against R.D., Fixed certificate and certificate under different schemes of consumers of the sub post office.
It proves that the in-charge of Garji Post Office provided fake certificate and he did not sent any amount to HPO. They also understood that Kartik Roy had not submitted any passbook or certificate to HPO and no amount of consumers from Garji Post Office entered online by the HPO. Although Roy collected the amounts against R.D. and different schemes and provided them pass book and certificate with seal and signature. According to preliminary estimate there is no trace of about Rs. 2 crore of 200 consumers from Garji and Dataram.
Naturally the question raised why R.K. Pur HPO authority did not conduct any investigation on failing to get any deposit from Garji Sub post office.
