Tripura’s royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Deb Barman on Saturday said, “The Union Home Minister Amit Shahji has assured me of providing patta land for the Bru/Reang community in Kanchanpur under North Tripura district.” This perhaps has come up today while Pradyot has said this in social media after returning from the consultation meet at Delhi chaired by Amit Shah in presence of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and others.
“Apart from NRC and CAB we have also talked regarding permanent solution for the reang refugees still camping in Tripura,” adding to this Pradyot said, “Amt Shahji responded positive on this and assured us providing patta land for the Brus and resettle them permanently in the state.”
He said, “I have also demand for their resettlement in Tripura with the same package like that of Mizoram there.” Pradyot earlier has written to Amit Shah demanding resettlement for the Brus saying that they are citizens of India and not foreigners.
Meantime, the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who have also demanded for permanent solution for the Brus in Tripura and resettle them in the state also remained present in the consultation meet at Delhi on Friday.
Pradyot said, “Tripura, which even gave refuge to Shah Shuja who was escaping his brother Aurangzeb’s wrath and lakhs of discriminated Hindus from East Pakistan and Bangladesh pre- and post-partition, has to give an option for our Bru/Reang people a chance to stay in the state along with proper land and educational and health facilities.”
