Chief Executive Member Tripura TTAADC (Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council) Radhacharan Debbarma today alleged that the state government was trying to debase the ADC executive members by reducing security personnel of the executive members.
Hitting out at the state government Debbarma said, from the first week of this month the number of security personnel is decreased which shows the state government’s intention towards the ADC.
He claimed that by virtue of post the elected members of the ADC were equal to cabinet ministers of the state and wondered as to how the state government had decreased the number of security escorts from double to single for them. Referring to the 6th schedule of Indian Constitution, he said, Autonomous District Councils are constitutional bodies and such an attitude of the government towards this elected body is undesirable. “Many times the Executive Members were attacked and faced assaults and is such circumstances lifting of security personnel may lead to dire consequences” the CEM observed.
He also alleged that the state government was not releasing funds for ADC in the proper way. “Several times letters are forwarded to the Chief Minister and Finance Minister but no positive attempts have been seen. We also approached the Chief Minister for meeting but no positive nod is found from that side” he added.
