Chief Executive Member TTAADC Radha Charan Debbarma today extended his support towards implementation of NRC, quashing away roumours regarding GMP’s opposition towards the issue.
“NRC is not at all a big issue, for the sake of well functioning of the state as well as the country, NRC is a necessary exercise and GMP’s stand regarding this issue is very much clear and supportive” said he, while speaking to the newsman.
He later added, several organizations who have petitioned for NRC in the apex court and if this exercise in undertaken here we have no problem. But the real issue is in what extent it would remain fruitful if the citizenship amendment bill 2016 is imposed as it proposed, he wondered.
Pushing a set of queries towards the central and state ruling BJP over their double standard politics he alleged, in one side the BJP people are capping up people’s attention by batting for NRC in various bordering states and on the other side they proposed “Citizenship Amendment Bill-2016” in such a way that it would surely fuel uncountable hurdles for Non-Hindu communities living in this country.
So it needs immediate clarification from the people who are over-aggressively trying to use NRC as a tool to count political advantages, he maintained.
While asked about the cut-off date that the GMP considered of being the fittest if NRC comes up in the state, he replied, the matter is sub-judice and the law will really take its own course. But as far as our concern “Indira-Mujib treaty” should be the elementary tip in terms of Cut-off date, he concluded.
