Amid massive security arrangement put on place, the strike called by Indigenous outfits including ruling ally IPFT hits several places of the state, precisely, the ADC areas. The vehicular activities seemed to have come to a standstill in the strike stricken areas.
Picketers assembled in several places in order to charge voice against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, scheduled to be tabled in the Parliament. The IPFT, which surfaced the demand of the separate state, once again used the occasion to press for the demand.
Addressing the media persons in the sidelines of the protest, IPFT leader Mangal Devbarma said that the Citizenship Amendment Bill needed not to be introduced in Tripura.
"We are from IPFT party and other wings of the party. Our organisation has decided to on December 09, 2019 to call a strike in the TTAADC area of Tripura for a separate state should be introduced with consideration of the central government in TTAADC areas of Twiprah. Other demands of our citizenship amendment Bill which is going to be tabled in the parliament should be stopped. If the Bill is implemented in Tripura the crisis of Indigenous people should be increased day by day" said IPFT AGS Mangal Debbarma
On the other hand, West Tripura District SP Manik Das told media that the situation was peaceful by and large." The situation is peaceful. Some picketers gathered in some places and they have been detained and sent to the detention centres of the police" Das told media.
