Rainfall triggered by cyclone “BulBul” continued its impact in public life leading to cancellation of three flights which were scheduled to be operated from Kolkata today.
The Cyclone Bulbul which is expected hit parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal in full fury soon became palpable even in state triggering occasional downpour in almost all the district. In the afternoon, the drizzle gained force and light showers splashed throughout the state.
Speaking to this publication, one of the highly placed official of the Airport Authority of India said, three flights—two Indigo and one Indian Airlines, which are scheduled to fly from Kolkata, have been cancelled due to harsh weather conditions in Bengal.
When asked about any further cancellation for tomorrow, he said, no airlines have informed about any cancellations yet. “No final decisions from the part of airlines regarding cancellation of flights have been communicated to the Air Traffic Control” said the official.
On the other hand, the Metrological department predicted heavy rainfall for tomorrow. “Heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur in the isolated areas of all the districts of the state” said a MET official.
However, the sky remained cloudy with mercury dropping to 22.6 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature recorded today was 27 degree centigrade.
