The Congress Party today took on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said, "The country is facing economic meltdown." Addressing a press conference here at the party office, the Congress In-charge for North East and Tripura Luizinho Falerio said, "Tripura is worst effected from the economic meltdown of the country under the BJP lead government at the centre and state."
"None of the promises made in the vision document prior election is fulfilled by the BJP government in Tripura," adding to this Falerio said, "Along with rest of the parts, the North East and especially Tripura is worst affected."
Falerio said, "The 'evil designs of the BJP party is destroying the North East region of the country henceforth it is only the congress party which is committed to protest and preserve the unique identity of the people of North East region of the country.'"
He continued hitting hard on the BJP and said, "The worst thing ever happened in the country is that the BJP so as to come over their bankruptcy problem, they are taking money of the Reserve Bank of India making it a vulnerable." He explained, "The banks are closing down and people's hard earned money is frizzed in the banks as they are unable to withdraw the single money."
Meantime, taking on the former PCC President also the royal scion of Tripura Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman today Falerio said, "Some are lying and complaining about me regarding NRC. But the fact is I have never intervened on this as NRC is a monitored programme of Supreme Court of India." He later said, "As far as Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) is concerned, the congress is committed to protect the interest of indigenous people of North East and Tripura. We have also signed series of MoU in the recent past with different regional parties here in Tripura issuing the CAB."
Falerio however dissatisfied with the party functioning in Tripura today said, "Our organisation is not at its best here, but despite it be the fact, the people of this state are restoring their faith on Congress party as the vote percentage of the party had a sharp jump from 1.8 per cent to 25.38 per cent during the last Lok Sabha election."
