The BJP led coalition government in Tripura has decided to provide land for setting up National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Addressing a press conference on Thursday evening, the state law and education minister Ratan Lal Nath while briefing the cabinet decision has announced this and said, "A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in 2017 in regard of setting up of NCDC in the state, but then no progress was made due to some unknown facts and at the meantime the NCDC has been demanding for land free of cost in Tripura to set up their institute for research in epidemiology and control of communicable diseases and to reorganize the activities of the Malaria Institute."
The Minister also said that the present government acknowledged with this has decided to provide 1.68 acres of land.
Meantime, the Tripura government on Thursday announced LAKSHYA special scholarship scheme for UPSC aspirants. Addressing a press conference the state education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, "Under this scholarship programme approved by the cabinet Rs. 1 lakh shall be provided to the aspirants coming from weak economic background who aspire for a career through UPSC." The Minister clarified, "The aspirants who clear the prelims examination and prepare for the mains examination shall be eligible for this scheme to take special coaching."
This scheme has been conceptualized to provide the much-needed support to those deserving and meritorious students.
