In science, the theory of attraction between different charges has been proven and applied widely. But, in politics, such combinations have been seen very rare. In such an incident, ruling Bharatiya Janata party and opposition CPIM came under the same roof to form a Panchayat council at Srikantapur under Gournagar block.
Speculation had been rife over grabbing power of the 13-member Panchayat council as the results of the elections left all the contesting parties unsettled because none of them could manage to reach the magical mark. According to the results, the ruling BJP bagged 6 seats, the opposition CPIM bagged 5 seats and rest of the two seats went to Congress.
Though, the opposition parties CPIM and Congress formed the council for a period of time, the new council could not sustain due to the internal bickering among the elected members. Reportedly, Habibuddin of CPIM had been appointed as the chief of the Panchayat and Abdul Salam was made his deputy. But, allegations of huge financial irregularities were reported in the aftermath and a no-confidence motion was moved against the incumbent body.
In a significant development, the Panchayat members of CPIM and BJP party came together and formed the new board. A press conference has been also convened today in this regard.
Speaking to the media persons, new Chief of the Panchayat from BJP, Tuakul Ali, said, the step has been taken to stop the financial irregularities.
