Baisya Kapali Samaj demands socio-economic development

AGARTALA:

A team of Akhil Tripura Baisya Kapali Samaj, an organization of other backward class communities, today met Governor of Tripura Ramesh Bais and placed a memorandum seeking his as well as the central government’s intervention to resolve socio-economic issues of the community.

The organization placed three major demands in the memorandum.

The first demand of the organizations is to include the community under scheduled caste status.

The second demand is to offer educational stipend to the students as there is no highly placed bureaucrat from this community serving in Tripura government whereas only handful of people are serving as doctors and engineers.

The last demand of the community is to offer resettlement package for the 495 families of the community residing in Gamaibari Reserve Forest who have been forced to take shelter there due to insurgent activities.
