Even as the state unit of CPIM remained undecided whether to move Supreme Court or not challenging the verdict of the High Court of Tripura on former PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury’s bail application, the arrested deputy opposition leader is being attended by the Psychiatrists at GBP hospital.
Earlier, the party has made it clear that it would move the Supreme Court challenging the decision of Tripura High Court on but now it seemed reluctant to do the same. Party’s legal functionary and the high command are yet to make a concrete decision on the issue. On the other hand, Chowdhury who is admitted to GBP hospital is now consulting with the Psychiatrists.
Speaking to this correspondent over the phone, CPIM state secretary Goutam Das said, “We are still discussing on the issue. Talks are on between the party’s legal functionary and high command, but a final decision is still to be taken. As soon as everything takes shape, it will be made public”.
However, according to sources, Chowdhury is under the observation of a group of Psychiatrists. “After he is admitted, doctors of almost all the departments have done their tests and medical investigation on him. Two departments—Neurology and Psychiatry are left. The Psychiatrists have started their investigation to ascertain whether he has something related to that or not. Neuro doctors will also start their course soon”, sources in the GBP hospital said.
On the other hand, police sources said that the medical reports had shown no signs of “abnormality” in his health and as soon as he would be discharged, he would be produced before the Court.
