Amra Bangali rally at Kanchanpur

AGARTALA:

The ripple effect of the Bru-settlement package announced by the central government in a generous attempt to end a two-decade-long imbroglio, of late, seemed to have taken a serious turn with the non-tribal communities of the region taking to the streets frequently.

The protests that started with the demand of scarping the fresh resettlement package, now shifted its motive seeking a similar package for the Bengali communities people, suffered losses due to the arrival of Brus. A rally had been organized today by Amra Bangali volunteers followed by a street corner.

Addressing the street corner, Amra Bangali leader and Chief Commander of Amra Bangali volunteers Gouri Shankar Nandi said, “We are not against the tribal communities but the government should consider the voices of both the communities. The parochial role from the part of a democratically elected dispensation can not be tolerated”.

“It is the Bengali people who sacrificed many things for this land and now they are being treated the way they deserve” Charged Nandi. Among the other notable leaders of the party also spoke on the occasion.
