Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday announced relief packages for the people of the Above Poverty Line (APL) category across the state amid the state-wide lockdown.
He said a total of 50,000 APL category families will be benefited with the package that the government has announced for the BPLs and other weaker sections of the people of the state. He said, “The left out poor section under APL category in the priority household list across the state will be benefited with the package.”
Tripura government earlier with the beginning of lockdown across the state has announced free ration for the priority households and Antyodaya Anna Yojna (AAY) beneficiaries across the state apart from the rationing through E-PDS.
The Chief Minister today addressing the people of the state has said, “During the lockdown period, the Tripura police has initiated to dispatch cooked packaged food free of cost among the attendants of the patients in different government-aided hospitals including AGMC, IGM and TMC hospital.”
“Due to the state-wide lockdown, the patient attendants in different hospitals are facing hurdles in arranging food for them,” adding to this Mr. Deb said, “To eradicate these hurdles, they will be now served with the packaged cooked food by the state police.”
Meantime, Mr. Deb said, “Government has initiated a process of carrying vegetables in the doorsteps of the people of this state.” He said this is to avoid mass gathering of people in the vegetable markets and maintain social distancing.
He said, “A meeting was held in this regard with the merchant association where the sellers were directed to ferry vegetables in the residence of the people or the buyers daily in the morning.”
