ADC elections: Congress meeting tomorrow

AGARTALA:

AICC Secretary and State in-charge of Tripura Bhupen Borah will be arriving here on Sunday to have preliminary talks with the state Congress leaders aiming to ensuing ADC elections.

According sources in the party, the state Congress chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman is eyeing to the ADC elections as the biggest chance to revamp the party in the state. With promising results in the Panchayat and Lok Sabha elections held recently, though in small scale, the Congress is now more focused to capitalize on the indigenous vote bank. Party insiders also told this website that the first meeting of the party pertaining to the ADC elections was going to be held tomorrow in presence of Bhupen Borah and state level leaders of Congress.

However, the party leaders disclosed nothing whether the alliance that was formed with INPT and other indigenous outfits before the Lok Sabha elections would remain intact or not.

“Still no decisions have been taken. The party is going devise its own strategy after assessing the political situation of the state but we are hopeful of a good performance once again as the party took enormous lead in the constituencies where the ADC elections are to be conducted” a highly placed leader of the party told this website.
