The inhabitants of remote hilly area Magroom under Rupaicharri ADC village are suffering from water born diseases due to crisis of drinking water.
Sources said that about 200 tribal families are dwelling in the area. The people of the area were suffering from acute crisis of drinking water for long time due to negligence of Rupaicherri Block authority. The previous government could not complete two projects of drinking water started in 2015 to solve the problems of drinking water at Buddhipara and Balraibari of Magroom area.
Youth of the locality Rati Mohan Tripura said, local people are deprived of pure drinking water here although a part of the water supply project completed. He added that drinking water would be available after installation of electric connection. The local people, TSR camp, schools and BSF camps could have been benefited by the project, he added.
Meanwhile teacher of Rajdharpur school Pradip Das said, the school authority have to depend water of Magroom cherra for cooking of mid day meal as there is no arrangement of pure drinking water in the village.
He further said, rotten water mixed with excretes of human and animal flow through Magroom Cherra. Many a time’s people use chemical poison in the water to catch fish. The students of the school are suffering from different water born disease by the contaminated water of the cherra. No reaction found after informing BDO of Rupaicherri Block on the matter once and again.
