The Chief Judicial magistrate court of West Tripura district today send the main accused identified as Anupam Pal arrested by the police on charge of spreading fake news in social media platform over alleged “bitter” family life of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to 5 days police remand after granting the plea of police. Police earlier interrogated the accused Anupam during three days police custody and unearthed series of issues related to the social media post which went derogatory after the accused youth allegedly forged a divorce case order of Delhi court and posted the same against Chief Minister and his family members.
"The accused Anupam Pal had contacted some heavy weight political leaders prior the arrest was made by the Tripura police at Delhi," adding to this the Public Prosecutor Bidyut Sutradhar said, "Many other issues were unearthed from the accused during the police interrogation." The Public Prosecutor however denied naming the heavy weight leaders for the sake of Police interrogation.
Earlier, on June 19 police also questioned proprietor of a local television channel after the accused named him of aiding Anupam fly Delhi after the derogatory post in social media went viral.
Court also permitted the police to interrogate the accused during the course of police remand. Police arrested the accused Anupam from Delhi on June 13 and the next day the accused was brought to Agartala on transit remand from Delhi Magistrate.
Both Biplab Deb and wife Niti Deb vehemently denied the reports and threatened of moving a criminal defamation case against the perpetrators. They spoke to media to describe the entire episode as part of ‘deep rooted conspiracy’ to destabilize BJP-led coalition government in Tripura.
