The 21st ONGC Lucky- Srivastava Memorial Invitation Football Tournament is being organised by ONGC Tripura Asset, Agartala from December 16-23 at Umakanata Stadium. ED- Asset Manager ONGC Tripura Gautam Kumar Singha Roy informed that the tournament, affiliated to All India Football Federation, will be participated by 10 teams. Among them, 6 teams are from Tripura itself. In the rest four, 2 teams are coming from Manipur, 1 from Mizoram and the other one coming from West Bengal. The final match is scheduled on December 23.
Gautam Kumar Singha Roy also said that, “We have increased prize money too in this season of Lucky Srivastava Tournament: The champion team will get a trophy and Rs. 2 lakhs. Runners’ Up team will get Rs. 1 lakh and a trophy.” The tournament is held in the memory of two ONGCians Justin Lucky and S K Srivastava, who bravely fell to the bullets of militants in 1992.
Speaking on the occasion Asset Manager Mr. Singha Roy said that ONGC has close association with the people of the state and regularly undertakes various welfare measures in various parts of the state. Encouraging the sports activities is one among them. As a result of this tournament, many players of the state have been able to get good exposure and highlight their talent while spectators of the state get to see some good football.
