With the initiative of JMC department of Tripura University, 2 day long workshop was organized was organized on Monday at Press Club.
The workshop is organized under the title of India- Bangladesh border: Interactions and cross border relations with special reference to NE India and roads ahead.
Tripura University VC Anjan Kumar Ghosh inaugurated the workshop, Assam Professor Bhupen Sharma, (also Director of OKDISCD) and others.
Talking to media, Assam Professor Bhupen Sharma, (also Director of OKDISCD) stated that with the initiative of Act East Policy the commercial ties among the two Nations have been strengthen but there is also need to boost the cultural, traditional ideas to develop the bond further.
Talks were also held on the importance of land connectivity can be best realised when rail and road links are extended to the nearest ports. Inland waterways hold immense potential for achieving multi-modal connectivity. It is thus important to modernize ports and make improvements in connecting the ports by roads or railways.
