Wah festival ends within blood donation

Three days long state level ‘Wah’ festival comprising of colourful cultural programme, blood donation camp and seminar ended today. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb inaugurated the festival at Dhama Dipa School ground of Manu Bankul on November 1.

Basically ‘Wah’ is the festival of Mog community of the state. It begins at Ashadi Purnima Tithi (full moon day of Ashad month) and ends on Aswini Purnima Tithi (full moon day of Aswin month) according to calendar of Bengali year. These three months are known as ‘Barshabas’.  Mainly the Buddha Bhikshus observe Barshabas by staying at Buddha Math or Monastery. They participate in religious discussion of Buddhism including Niti Katha, Astamarg etc in presence other religious people.

Mog Socio- Cultural Organization performed a beautiful cultural programme with local and expert tribal artists of the state during last three days.

MLA Sankar Roy, MLA Sushanta Choudhury and MLA Prabhat Choudhury were also present today on the occasion of concluding ceremony. MLA Sankar Roy inaugurated Blood Donation Camp. Altogether 50 persons donated blood including Dr. Dhamapriya and General Secretary of Dhama Dipa Foundation.
