Vijay Merchant Trophy Under 16 Cricket: Jharkhand defeat Tripura by huge 199 runs

After taking a lead in the first innings in the end due to lack of experience, Tripura Under 16 cricket team lost their opening match today in the ongoing Vijay Merchant trophy under 16 cricket tournament. At MBB Stadium today visiting team Jharkhand won the match by a huge margin of 199 runs.

Chasing 251 runs to win today Tripura bundled out for a mere 54 runs and thus faced a huge defeat in the opening match. Manishi and Amit Kumar of the Jharkhand team rattled the batting line of Tripura as both of them picked up 5 wickets each. Notably Jharkhand made 98 runs in their first innings while in reply Tripura made 141 and today Jharkhand declared their second innings on 296/3.

Tripura will play their second match in the tournament from December 7-9 against Assam as the match will be held at MBB Stadium. Today Jharkhand declared their second innings on 296/3 as they added another 57 runs from their overnight score. Ankit scored a hundred as he remained unbeaten on 108. Arian Hooda remained unlucky as he went out after scoring 95.

Chasing 251 runs to win the match today Tripura batsmen failed to make any kind of effort and bundled out for a mere 54 runs. Among the batsman Rajib Hussein scored 16, Tanmoy Das made 11 and Amit Ali made 10 as apart from them all the other failed to cross the double digit mark. Manishi and Amit Kumar picked up 5 wickets each.
