Keeping Along with the whole nation, Ujjwala Diwas under the aegis of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan was observed today by organizing LPG panchayats at 55 locations across eight districts of the State.
LPG Panchayats highlighted the importance of usage of clean cooking fuel with regard to health, economic, safety, environment benefits. The LPG Panchayat was organized by Indian Oil Corporation limited with support from LPG Distributors of Tripura.
In Udaipur, the programme was organized jointly by Trinayani Gas Agency and 21 Assam Riffles at Udaipur Town Hall at 12 p.m. Among others, MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh, SDM Subhashish Bandyopadhyay, proprietor of Trinayani Gas Agency Sima Bhadra Lodh, Officer of IOC Prabhat Agarwal, Officer of Food department Swapan Debbarma graced the programme.
Hundreds of women assembled at the venue to take advantage of the Central scheme – Ujjwala Scheme. “We faced lot of troubles in collecting firewood’s; moreover we also could not afford to buy LPG connection at market rate. It is good that Trinayani Gas Agency and 21 Assam Riffles organized a programme to provide LPG connections to us under the scheme,” commented a woman of Chandrapur under Udaipur sub-division.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh urged people to come forward for proper and successful implementation of the scheme. Stressing on generating awareness, Ghosh highlighted benefits of the scheme and appealed people to take benefit of the Central project.
Our correspondent from Sonamura added that Ujjwala Divas observed at Kathalia under Dhanpur constituency by providing free gas connection to more than 100 women today. MLA Subhash Chandra Das inaugurated the programme by lighting lamp. Then he handed started providing gas connection by handing over gas stove to Ranubala Sutradhar.
Speaking on the occasion MLA Das appealed the officials of blocks, Food department and SDM to provide gas to the consumers in time through home delivery. Sources said that the day is being observed at 48 villages of Sipahijala district and 14 villages under Sonamura subdivision.
Our correspondent form Nutanbazar added that Ujjwala Divas observed at Jatanbari Town Hall with initiative of Indane Rural Agency in presence of about 400 women. A section of women from Silacherri block, Karbook Block area and Amarpur block area participated in the programme.
MLA of Karbook block, former MLA Manoranjan Acharjee, Ramu Sarkar, Bhaskar Bhattacharjee. Owner of the organization Tapas Saha delivered the welcome address. Among women Kanika Das delivered speech. SDM of Amarpur and DCM of Karbook were present on the occasion.
Our correspondent from Teliamura added that Ujjwala Day observed at Mungiakami under Krishnapur constituency. The programme organized with initiative of administrative authority of Teliamura in collaboration with United Gas Agency. On the occasion free gas connection was provided to 27 beneficiaries in presence of local MLA Atul Debbarma.
Meanwhile 21 Assam Rifles in collaboration with IOC Agencies fecilitated distribution of free LPG gas connections as part of Ujjwala Yojona to BPL families at Khowai, Udaipur, Mandai, Jampuijala on the occasion of Ujjwala Divas today.
