Udbastu Unnayan Committee staged protest outside CM Manik Sarkar residence

The West District and Sipahijala District Udbastu Unnayan Committee on Wednesday staged mass demonstration outside CM Manik Sarkar residence in demand of their long pending demands. The protest demonstration is held to raise voice for the fulfillment of the demands.

To arrange rehabilitation for the refugees, to provide Rs. 5 lakh to the refugee families along with a total of 3 charters of demands the West District and Sipahijala District  Udbastu  Unnayan Committee staged demonstration.

The members of the West District and Sipahijala District Udbastu Unnayan Committee stated that they have raising voice in favour of the long pending demands for last many years but they did not get  any support from the government. They also stated that if their demands are not fulfilled they will sit for hunger strike.

In between 1998 and 2000, when terrorist violence was at its peak in Tripura, the displaced people were attacked by the militants several times, forcing them to desert their ancestral homes and lands for safer places," the member stated and hence they are raising voice in favor of fulfillment of their long pending demands.

The deprived members also stated that "The state government has been providing government jobs, economic rehabilitation and other support to the surrendered militants, then why should we be deprived despite being enormously affected by the terrorists.
