The Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in his press statement on Tuesday evening said, "The TSR 2nd battalion commandant Tapan Debbarma has been removed from all his responsibilities and duties over the killing of journalist today."
In his statement Sarkar said, "The accused personal guard of the commandant has been arrested and his service weapon has also been seized." The statement has come up today evening after the senior Journalist of this state has been shot dead by PG Nanda Gopal Reang inside the camp of TSR 2nd battalion at R K Nagara Bodhjungnagar.
The CM in his statement further added, "I am deeply saddened and shocked by the death of journalist Sudip Dutta Bhowmik." Adding to this he said, "The Director General of Police (DGP) has already been asked to take all possible steps for fastest enquiry of the incident and punished the accused persons at the earliest."
The incident actually took place on Tuesday noon after the journalist Sudip Dutta Bhowmik visited the camp for getting information for his story. The IG TSR G S Rao while briefing the incident today evening said, “There was a scuffle between the journalist and the TSR personnel guard Nanda Gopal Reang and during this the journalist was fired and shot dead from point blank range.”
However, the incident has triggered a serious panic among the journalist wings of the state today.
