In wake of the observance of National De-Worming day in the state of Tripura along with rest of the nation on August 10 to tackle threat of worm infection in children, the state health and family welfare minister Sudip Roy Barman on Tuesday informed that all schools and anganwadi centers will administer de-worming tablets to children aged 1 to 19 years and if any child not administered on National De-Worming day due to absenteeism or sickness will be de-wormed on mp-up day on August 17th and 18th.
The Minister however while addressing the media at the civil secretariat on Tuesday evening has urged upon the guardians to act worry free towards administering their children with the government sponsored de-worming tablets.
The state health and family welfare department in collaboration with the social welfare and social education, school education, higher education, industries and commerce department will roll out the National De-Worming Day on August 10, said Mr. Barman.
He also said, "The programme aims to deliver de-worming treatment to all children and adolescents in Tripura in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, cognitive development, and quality of life."
However, Mr. Barman also said that in this coming round Tripura will continue to make special efforts to include private schools and children who are out of school, so that all children in the state can be benefited from the de-worming treatment.
"Children who are out of school will be mobilized by the ASHAs to be de-wormed at Anganwadi centers on National De-worming Day," adding Mr. Barman said, "Efforts will be made to increase attendance at all schools and educational institutions on the de-worming day for high coverage."
