Tripura targets to administer 11, 13, 062 children this season to celebrate National De-worming Day

Along with the rest of the nation the state Tripura is all set to celebrate the national de-worming day from August 10. A series of programmes are being arranged to mark the day where the state Tripura has targeted to administer de-worming tablets to 11, 13, 062 children this year, said state health minister Badal Chowdhury here at the civil secretariat on Friday noon.

While addressing the press conference today the minister said that to reach the target de-worming tablets (Albendazole) would be administered in 4, 861 government and non-government schools and 9, 911 Anganwadi centres across the state.

The de-worming tablets would be administered to the registered children age group between1 to 5 in all the Ananwadi centre whereas the age group between 6 to 19 children would be administered in all the government and non-government schools.

Besides, the minister also said that the children who are not yet registered in Anganwadi centre or schools would be administered with the de-worming tablets free of cost.

Chowdhury said, “The Albendazole tablets are safe for children of all age group mentioned except some minor reactions like vomiting and stomach-ache feelings.”

If any children miss the programme they can be taken to the nearby Anganwadi centres of schools for getting administered with the tablets on August 17 during the mop-up day of National De-worming Day.

However, the state level programme to observe National De-worming Day would be held at Gardang Higher secondary school of Kalacherra village under the Satchand Block of Sabroom Sub-division. The jail minister Manindra Reang would inaugurate the programme.
