Introduction of different units by Health department at Gomoti District Hospital at Tepania without development of old district hospital at Udaipur created resentment among common people of the subdivision.
The 100 years old Tripura Sundari Hospital is suffering from thousands of problem at present. It covers under darkness after evening. The ‘Subdivision’ hospital coved with jungle. Sources said that the poor condition of the subdivision hospital will become the issue of political campaign of different political parties in the forthcoming state assembly poll.
The shifting of district hospital at Tepania was not acceptable to the people of the subdivision. The incident created resentment and tension among the local people. Police force was deployed to control tension at Udaipur town. At that time CPI-M, Congress and TMC organized movement by utilizing the resentment of common people. At that time Health department announced that Cancer Unit would be introduced at Gomati District Hospital. But the assurance was not implemented. Besides the then Health minister Keshab Majumder assured to introduce Homeo Medical College at the place of present subdivision hospital and district hospital will be shifted to Tepania for that purpose. Accordingly 100 years old Udaipur District Hospital was shifted from Udaipur town.
Meanwhile Health department went to minister Badal Choudhury from former Health minister Tapan Chakrabory. But the condition of the hospital deteriorated day by day. The promise of starting cancer unit was repeated at the time of Tapan Chakraborty. But it was not implemented. The infrastructure of the hospital was not developed during the period of Health minister Badal Choudhury.
Meanwhile Dialysis Unit will be introduced by Health minister Badal Choudhury at Tepania District Hospital tomorrow. Besides SNCU unit will be introduced on same day. Naturally the question raised that how many people would be benefited by shifting of district hospital at the border of Gomati district by leaving 100 years old hospital.
