After a gap of long 11 years Tripura Sports School made their place to the quarter final in the ongoing Subrata Mukherjee cup football tournament. 11 years back under the guidance of late coach Sanjay Roy, Tripura Sports school won that title and this time around under the guidance of Abu Taher and with a very weak team this team made their place to the last eight of the tournament which is really very much incredible.
In today’s match Uttarakhand defeated TAFS by 3-1 and thus by the difference of goals Tripura Sports School moved to the last eight of the tournament. Coach Abu Taher along with the whole team remained present at Ambedkar Stadium to witness the match.
In the quarterfinal match on September 15 Tripura Sports School will face Goa as the match will be held at same venue from 7.00 am. The whole team took part in the practice session from evening.
After the end of the practice session Coach Abu Taher in an interview said,” All the players played well which was beyond my expectation and I strongly believe that the players will maintain their good display in the coming matches also. We have to play well in the quarterfinal as Goa is a very strong side as silly mistake will make out way out from the tournament.”
In this tournament till now in the four matches Tripura scored 21 goals and conceded just 3 goals.
