For the first time in the state, the Tripura BJP-IPFT government has imposed restriction on using paper printouts in government offices from now in a bid to bring down the wastage of papers which perhaps has become custom for the officials in all the departments under the regime of previous Left front government. This might have been a section being avoided by the previous Left front government resulting acute wastages of papers.
In an office memorandum issued by the department of general administration (secretariat administration), Secretary T.K. Chakma said the state government has decided to lay stress on the importance of economy in use of paper in government offices.
As per the direction being imposed on all officers by the state general administration headed by the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, both sides of the papers have to be used for printing as opposed to the use of only one side which had become a tradition and the space between the lines would also be kept minimal.
The public servants are also being directed to stop taking printouts until it is extremely important.
Chief Minister has said that every day, huge bulks of paper find their place in the trash in the name of draft correction, henceforth so as to bring down this the government has initiated the direction. The Chief Minister also pointed out that the state government has recently launched e-gazette and e-office to make paperless governance popular and are also trying to make Tripura a model state in the country in the next three years.
