As the Citizenship Amendment Bill - 2016 is nearing to the Rajya Sabha, the tribals especially in the Northeastern states of the nation including Tripura are putting more impetus to their argument on the bill to strengthen up their demand of scrapping the bill prior getting it passed by the centre in Rajya Sabha. The opposition parties in the state have strongly opposed the bill terming this to be disastrous for the indigenous people living in the NE region.
Just after the Anti-Citizenship Amendment Bill Committee, a common platform for tribal based parties in Tripura threatened to move Supreme Court of the bill is passed, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today questioned, "Why politics with CAB?"
"A section of tribals and other oppositions are simply politicizing the CAB," adding to this the Chief Minister said, "One has to go deep to the bill prior politicizing it and spreading rumour on this." The Chief Minister replying to the query of media here at the civil secretariat today.
Mr. Deb said, "It’s not that with the passage of this bill it will be immediately implemented in Tripura. My government shall first study the feasibility of this bill and its effect on our people prior getting it implemented in Tripura."
However, the leader of the Anti-CAB committee MLA Animesh Debbarma threatening to move apex court said, "The issue shall be taken up at the international forum too, because the bill shall damage the existence of tribals in this NE region of the country."
