Tripura celebrates 19th International Mother Language Day

AGARTALA:

Tripura celebrated 19th International Mother Language Day today with multiple events and colourful rallies, cultural programs and seminar across the state. In the central program at the lawn of Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath and Revenue Minister N C Debbarma paid tribute to the martyrs of 1952’s language movement.

A colourful procession commemorating the language martyrs was moved in the city from U K Academy. 

However addressing the gathering of people of both Tripura and Bangladesh during the programme on Thursday, the state education minister Ratan Lal Nath said that unless the languages of different of its kind are put importance a state cannot be developed and the Tripura government is working on it. He said the government is working to promote all languages in this state.

Meantime, the state revenue minister N C Debbarma addressing taking part in the programme on Thursday appealed to put importance on classical languages like Tamil and Malyalam. He felt the necessity of promoting those languages by adopting for teachings and learning in education institutions of this state and especially in the Northeastern region of the country.
