Tirthamukh Mela to be inaugurated by CM on January 14

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb will inaugurate the traditional Tirthamukh Mela organized at Tirthamukh of Karbook subdivion on the occasion of Poush Sankranti on January 14, said DM of Gomati district T.K. Debnath at a press conference organized at conference hall of DM Office today.

He said, “The traditional fair will be organized on January 14 and 15. Chief Minister will inaugurate the fair at 4 p.m. in presence of Special Guest and Tribal Welfare minister Mewar Kumar Jamatia, Tourism and Transport minister Pranajit Sinha Roy and many other dignitaries. Chairman of Karbook BAC Ashim Kumar Tripura will preside over the inaugural” function. DM said, about 700 temporary tents like stalls will be set up so that the devotees could pass night at the stalls.

DM further said, about 1.5 lakh people could visit the fair within these two days. On the occasion 460 shops will be opened. Meanwhile 500 applications submitted for opening shops. Besides, ample toilet, urinal will be arranged and Fire Service will remain in the fair. Moreover many CC TVs will be installed in the fair.

He further added that three temporary bridges will be constructed over meeting point of Raima and Sarma Rivers. On the occasion ICA will organize different cultural programmes of tribal and non-tribal people cultural groups. Meanwhile repair and maintenance of roads towards Tirthamukh is on the verge of completion. About 800 police, 200 volunteers and required number of Disaster Management staffs will be deployed on the occasion of the fair.
