The results of just concluded TET exams though could not negotiated against the hope of aspirants, the achievement was much better than the previous years, observed a highly placed official in the TRBT (Teachers Recruitment Board of Tripura).
Speaking to the newsman, he informed, this year altogether 1,789 numbers of candidates out of 2174 applicants appeared for TET paper-1 which consists 5 specific subjects. In this exam only 394 candidates could successfully secured the qualifying mark leading to a pass percentage of 22.02%.
And, in the TET paper-2 which consists 7 distinguished papers to be cleared, in order to get qualified; altogether 2,337 candidates appeared out of a queue of 2,762 applicants. The pass percentage here stood to 20.20% pushed by the total 472 qualifiers.
The results this year went comparatively high-flying for the state, in preceding years the pass percentages were respectively 11.43% (2015), 7.63 %( 2016 Paper 1) and 8.29 %( 2016 paper 2). Moreover, in central equivalent test—CTET the highest percentage ever achieved was 17% in 2015, so the results of the state are quite satisfactory, he argued.
He also informed that the verification period for all the successful candidates is has been already notified to the candidates—which will start from October 26 to November 03 next. During this period all the candidates were supposed to undergo a screening conducted over their relevant documents and after completion the TET certificate will be also provided to.
Asked about the complaints of the students pouring in regarding the hard question setting, he replied that there is nothing actually like that. National Council of Teacher’s Education (NCTE) has already framed a quality assessment for the papers that will be set in accordance to the exams. Keeping it on mind the question papers were placed not really deviating from the national standard and the eminence of the papers are purely national in standard.
Asking on the papers where the students struggle a lot, he informed that as per an overall view students are comparatively weaker in grammar parts of both Bengali and English and of course the Mathematics is also causing a great trouble to the students though the standard is confined beyond matriculation.
