The selection committee of Tripura Cricket association met today and selected the 18 member Tripura squad for the upcoming KSCA Invitation cricket tournament which will start from July 22 at Bengaluru and Mysore. Though the team has been selected by the committee but the announcement of the team will be done tomorrow due to holiday.
Tripura will be there in Group A for the tournament along with organizer KSCA XI, Himachal Pradesh Cricket association and Assam Cricket association. In this 18-member squad Tripura team will miss the service of professional player Gurinder Singh as Gurinder is currently playing county cricket in England and the selectors are not getting any contact with him.
But the state associations have sent an email regarding this matter and still waiting for its reply and most likely Guridner will not be a part of the team. This will be a huge blow for the Tripura team as in the last couple of tournaments Gurinder Singh played some good cricket both with bat and bowl and also played crucial part in the Vijay Hazare trophy cricket.
Also Tripura will miss their three prime fast bowlers Rana Datta, Arjun Debnath and Ajoy Sarkar for the tournament and this looked deep concern for the selectors also. Tapas Dey, Secretary of Tripura Cricket association announced the news today. Also 6 stand by player’s name also announced by the committee as they will join the team for 21 days training after this event.
Most Probable Tripura Team: Udiyan Basu, Bishal Ghosh, Samrat Sinha, Smit Kumar Patel, Yashpal Singh, Rajesh Banik, Kaushal Acharjee, Abhijit Dey, Rajat Dey, Nirupam Sen Choudhury, Joydip Banik/Nirupam Sen, Manisankar Murasingh, Abhijit Sarkar, Sanjay Majumder, Chiranjit Paul, Joydeep Bhattacharjee and Dwaipayan Bhattacharjee.
