Physiotherapy is an important part of developed medical service, said Health minister Sudip Roy Barman while inaugurating Physiotherapy Health Camp at the premises of Ram Thakur Seva Mandir at Teliamura yesterday.
The day long camp organized with initiative with joint initiative of Lions Club, Sarada Samiti and Physiotherapist Ishita Chanda.
Speaking on the occasion Health minister said, “Physiotherapy is a treatment for the patients of Arthritis, Brain Ham rage and Neurological problem”. Referring Physiotherapy is becoming popular all over the country and world he said, “People of the state are deprived of the service due to poor infrastructure of the treatment here”. He further said, “The State Government has plan to introduce Physiotherapy treatment facility at 23 PHCs of the state at preliminary level and the decision will be taken as early as possible.”
Adding that the state government is working by prioritizing health and education he said, “The State Government is going to take decision of setting an ultra modern Hospital near IGM to provide medical service to the people of the state in cheap rate. For that purpose discussion is going on with an eminent hospital of Tamilnadu. The modern hospital will be beneficial for the people of the state as well as increase commercial income of the state. Because, large number of patients rushing to Tamilnadu every year from 8 districts of Bangladesh every year. They have to spend lot of money for treatment there.”
He further said,”Meanwhile the citizens of Bangladesh requested to set up such a hospital in Tripura during my recent visit in Bangladesh.” He expected that income in Tourism sector would increase if the patients visit the state for the purpose of treatment.
Among others MLA Kalyani Roy stressed on utility of physiotherapy for preventive and curative treatment. Besides MLA Dr. Atul Debbarma, MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury, Dr Sumya Bhattacharjee, SDM Bhaskar Bhattacharjee, SDMO Padma Ram Jamatia were attended the programme.
