Three day long 51st State Athletics Tournament will start from August 20 as the tournament will be held at Dasarath Deb Stadium in Badharghat and in the evening the tournament will be inaugurated. In the state event apart from all the 8 districts, Athletes from Tripura Sports School, Sai Sag and Tripura Police each will also take part.
On the other hand today West District athletics event held at Badharghat Stadium where 120 athletes from Sadar, Mohanpur and Jirania took part. Secretary of Tripura Sports council Dilip Chakraborty inaugurated the tournament in the morning while among the others president of state association Arun Bhowmik, Bipab Datta and Mrinal Kanti Das remained present.
In his inaugural speech Dilip Chakraborty gave the assurance that Sports council will provide all kinds of necessary help to the association. With 85 points Sadar Subdivision became champion while with 56 and 30 points respectively Jirania and Mohanpur subdivision bagged the second and third place respectively. For the state event the Sadar team will be announced today.

Tripura: Around 34 pc voter turnout recorded in simultaneous polls
The polling percentage in Tripura till 11 a.m. was 34.6 per cent for Tripura West Lok Sabha seat and Ramnagar Assembly seat. Around 16 per cent voter turnout was registered till 9 a.m. in the Tripura West Lok Sabha seat amid tight security, election officials said on Friday.
