SSA next hearing on Oct 01

AGARTALA:

The High Court of Tripura today carried over the hearing of two petitions filed by Sajal Deb and Manoj Kumar Debbarma to October 01 next, after partially hearing the both the sides today. The petition seeking regular pay scale and other rudimentary allowances for the teachers appointed under the “Sarva Siksha Abhiyan” was deferred by Justice Arindam Lodh following a direction for listing the supplements on the date forwarded.

Notably, the teachers alleged that the state government has done injustice to the SSA teachers. As they are affiliated to regular pay scale and other facilities as per the norms formulated under the SSA rule and Right to Information Act, 2009. Moreover, it is also known from a fraction of teachers that the teachers who were recruited under this scheme are excused of the TET exams as the recruits were given appointments before the enactment of Right To education Act.

Meanwhile, altogether 8,000 teachers of the state schools are standing underneath the insecure tag line of SSA, as the then government not responded to the centre’s call to regularize the teachers paying 10% of the total salary. Earlier on massive protest and demonstrations were staged by the SSA Teacher’s Welfare Association including fast-in-demonstration last year.
